Sorry to say…

Some of you found out early, but I’d like to make it official, that I have decided to part ways with Ian Walsh’s band.  The decision was purely personal for me, and has nothing to do with the rest of the guys, who I consider to be some of my best friends.

The touring lifestyle is rigorous and wrought with hardship.  This has been my life, not only in 2009 when I joined Ian’s band, but for 4 years before that when I was in The Crash Motive.  What kept me going through the hardship was the joy I experienced from traveling and playing shows.  Once the joy is gone however, there is no point in doing it anymore.

I guess that’s where I am at right now.  The magic that used to be the touring lifestyle, somehow lost its luster for me over the past few months.  I need a break, a change of scenery.  I’m not quite sure my new path yet.  I’d like to still be doing music, but I just can’t handle being on tour in a van all the time.

I plan on working with Ian in a more limited capacity.  I will be recording keyboards on his next studio album, and maybe will even surprise you by sitting in on a show here and there.

I will say that I have had some of the most memorable experiences of my life playing music with Ian, Wiley, Jesse, Cam, Ritchie & Josh over the last year, and getting five more tours under my belt.

I’d also like to additionally thank all the friends and fans I’ve made over the past year.  The support that I’ve seen from you guys is unprecedented.

Much love, and I hope to cross paths with you one day,
Jamie
